Timothy Donovan

Tim, who has been a thrill seeker his entire life, entered the military to become a Green Beret.

After successfully completing the Special Forces Qualification Course, he earned the coveted Green Beret and Special Forces Tab. He was then assigned to the 5th Special Forces Group at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, where he served as an engineer/breacher on Special Forces A-Team Operational Detachment Alpha 5134 (ODA-5134). His team specialized in high-altitude, low-opening (HALO) parachuting, introducing Tim to military freefall jumping.

Tim’s team deployed overseas multiple times, and he earned the Combat Infantryman Badge for participating in combat operations in northern Syria. After four years with ODA-5134, Tim was assigned as an instructor at the Army’s high-altitude parachute school in Yuma, Arizona, where he taught service members HALO jumping techniques. During his more than two years at the school, Tim was credited with saving the lives of five service members who experienced malfunctions during parachute jumps. He has more than 1,300 military freefall jumps to his credit.

After his assignment in Yuma, Tim entered Army flight training at Fort Rucker, Alabama. Following a year of training, he qualified as a CH-47 Chinook pilot and advanced from Sergeant First Class to Warrant Officer 1. He was then assigned to the 3rd Infantry Division as a helicopter pilot stationed at Hunter Army Airfield in Savannah, Georgia.

Tim is currently being reassigned to Special Forces. He is completing drone and technology training at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, before moving on to his next assignment with the 10th Special Forces Group.

He is married to the former Hannah Rockwell, and they have two children: James, 6, and Josephine, 4.

Tim continues to serve on active duty and remains a hero to his family, his community, and the nation.
